Someone once said that necessity is the mother of invention. At UZU Moto, we don’t necessarily think that’s true. We didn’t need to create custom components for our bikes.
We wanted to.
The brainchild of our founder, Caleb, Uzu Moto was created to share our passion for customizing our rides. Caleb struck first with the desire to build an exhaust slip-on for his Kawasaki Z650. He completed this task successfully, designing, ordering, and assembling a fully custom exhaust in only a matter of weeks.
One might think that this is a long time, but considering the challenges of having to work with other suppliers and manufacturers to get several components custom made, this was no small accomplishment.
Yet, we decided that wasn’t good enough. We thought that there has to be a better way to get custom parts made in an affordable and timely fashion. We began to build a small shop where we could design, engineer, and build these parts one-hundred percent ourselves, skipping the long lead times, limited flexibility, and shipping challenges from existing vendors.
This desire fueled Caleb’s second round of creations, which included the creation of more parts for his classic bike restorations: building custom electrical components and fabricating battery boxes for his custom cafe racer. This put our efforts of creating our business into high gear. The fruits of that labor are now starting to come together.
About a year and lots of couch cushion diving later, UZU Moto is now at the point where we are putting our creations into production. It has taken a little while, but we are well on our way. We will be releasing new parts and product lines over the coming months, all to help you bring your visions to life.
There is still work to be done. Creating cool stuff that our friends and other like-minded riders would want takes time and effort. But we are determined to grow our little shop into something big.
